HB Weekend

Mike taught a training in Irvine last week so the kids and I drove up to HB to meet him. We swam in Grandma's pool and then went to Ruby's on the pier. From our booth, we got to watch the amazing sunset and we even spotted a small pod of dolphins. A balloon man came around and tied some balloons for the kids. Aubrey requested a monkey, Connor got a dragonfly and Aaron got a spider. Too bad they didn't last. They were pretty cool.

I loved watching the kids expressions as the balloon man created their animal. Aubrey was so transfixed. And Aaron and Connor both smiled with anticipation. Aaron who is normally very much afraid of balloons handled the situation with ease. I was so happy for him. Here's a kid who in the past, has been brought to tears by balloons at birthday parties.

Jamaica...ya mon!

Mike was asked to be one of a group of Senior Managers to review an audit in Jamaica for two weeks. As soon as he decided that he would do it, he went to work figuring out if we had enough skymiles for me to fly out and meet him there. We did so then we had to make arrangements for the kids. Hollie ended up flying out to take care of our kids for a few days. Yes, she had only been home for less than two weeks and then we flew her back out. It worked out well because her kids weren't in school yet and Kirk had some time off. We were so grateful to them! Mike was working in Kingston and the firm drove us all out to Montego Bay for the weekend. It was a long, windy drive through the middle of the island. We saw so many shantis and the poverty there is particularly humbling. Montego Bay was beautiful. The view from our room was amazing. We had a great time kayaking, snorkling, and sailing on the hobie, and climbing up the Dunn's River Falls. We really lucked out on the weather considering it's peak hurricane season and there were not many tourists so it felt like we had the resort to ourselves.

LEGOLAND

So Hollie and her three kids were the lucky recipients of our free tickets! We had such a great time at Legoland and we even met up with our cousins from Riverside later in the day. The kids had a blast.
